March Highlights!

New Dawn Evening

Our third New Dawn Evening took place on Thursday 12th March and continued to build on the grace of previous months. We were delighted to welcome Catholic Speaker Deirdre Mckeever from Derry, who gave a moving talk on God’s power to heal, sharing several incredible testimonies from her recent Encounter Missions trip to Belize. Her stories of physical healing and answered prayer added a real sense of encouragement to the night!

We were also blessed with anointed praise and worship led by Angel Anyamele and Theo Farrell from One Hope Project, along with John Griffin. As always, the night included Eucharistic Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and the opportunity for prayer ministry, followed by a time to chat and connect afterwards.

Our next New Dawn Evening will be on Thursday 9th April, with John Hesketh joining us as our speaker.

Lent Retreat Day

On Saturday 28th March, the Prince of Peace Community partnered with Ss Peter & Paul’s parish in Pendleton, Salford to host a Lent retreat day, giving parishioners space to prepare for Holy Week through prayer, teaching, and encounter.

The day opened with anointed praise and worship, led by Angel Anyamele from One Hope Project alongside John Griffin and Cathy Bruce. The first talk was given by Catholic Speaker John Hesketh, who gave an excellent and insightful teaching on the Catholic understanding of redemptive suffering. We then gathered for the celebration of Holy Mass, followed by a shared lunch. Many people took the opportunity to go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation which was available throughout lunch and the afternoon.

After lunch, we returned to praise and worship before hearing from Catholic Speaker Daniella Stephens, who spoke on the Catholic balanced view of suffering – how we can offer our trials to Christ while still seeking help and healing, since Christ loves to heal and invites us to ask for what we need! Gary Stephens (leader of the Prince of Peace Community) followed with a powerful personal testimony on suffering, sharing how God has brought grace out of suffering in his own life, including the tragic loss of his son.

The day concluded with a healing service including Eucharistic Adoration, worship, and personal prayer ministry, supported by four clergy from the parish and wider community. Feedback from attendees was very positive, with one person sharing: “Just what I needed. Thanks to all who made it happen.” Glory to God!
